Rhetus periander
Uncommon up to 1050 m.; probably more common in lowlands. Attracted to bait and mud. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco; the female shown may represent a different subspecies.
Similar species: The best mark on both sexes is red line VFW costa extending to the white discal band; this line is much shorter on R. dysonii. On males, note that the blue in the DFW cell does not continue beyond end of cell, unlike R. dysonii.
Rhetus dysonii
Common 850-2150 m. Attracted to bait. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco; the female shown may represent a different subspecies.
Similar species: See R. periander.
