Similar species: Compare worn individuals with D. gilippus candidus.

Locally common at 2400 m., almost certainly lower, in dry valleys. Visits flowers.
Similar species: Much paler than D. plexippus nigrippus; also has a white bar at the end of the FW cell which plexippus lacks.
