Setabis epitus
Rare at 700 m., probably lower. The female shown was found on a moth sheet at 4:00 AM. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.
Similar species: Female is distinctive. Male is more uniformly patterned than several similar species (including S. extensa); most similar is S. plagiaria (I have no Cusco records) has more contrasting black veins.
Setabis myrtis
Uncommon up to 700 m. Found in forest, including secondary; probably not attracted to bait. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco; the female shown could be a different subspecies.
Similar species: For males, S. pythia and S. disparilis (I have no Cusco records of either) have a different VFW pattern, among other differences; S. lagus (I have no Cusco records) and S. pythioides lack orange at VHW base. Female seems to be unique.
Setabis extensa
Uncommon up to 550 m. Found in forest.
Similar species: Similar species, including male S. epitus, lack the well-defined white basal markings on both V wings.
Setabis pythioides
Rare(?) at 700 m., probably lower. I don't know which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.
Similar species: For male, see S. myrtis. Female is similar to several others; I'm not really confident identifying it.
