Catonephele acontius
Fairly common up to 1050 m. Attracted to bait; also puddles. I don't know which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.
Similar species: Male distinctive. Female D similar to C. salambria and C. chromis but V is very different.
Catonephele salambria
Fairly common 1050-1350 m. Attracted to bait, occcasionally puddles.
Similar species: Both sexes very similar to C. chromis, which is generally found at higher elevations, but with overlap. FW apex is more rounded, and V pattern less contrasting, in salambria.
Catonephele chromis
Fairly common 1100-2150 m., mostly above 1400 m. Attracted to bait and mud. I don't know which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.
Similar species: Found at higher elevations than others. See C. salambria.
